Kitchen cabinet refacing will save a homeowner thousands of dollars when it comes to the cabinets and drawers of a kitchen remodeling job.
There are several options when it comes to refacing kitchen cabinets: the easiest and simple way to turn kitchen cabinets from drab into Fab would be to replace the cabinet doors and drawer facings with new ones.
Begin with a screwdriver, an electric one works best, and be sure to label each cabinet door and drawer face with the number or letter going from left to right or whichever way you begin so you know which door goes back to which cabinet.
There’s no need to do anything to the boxes or cabinets themselves, simply replace the doors with either a contrasting color or a wood grain that is close enough to match. Even if it doesn’t match perfectly, slight imperfections or slightly mismatched cabinet doors give the kitchen character.
The Euro look is all the rage and to achieve this look start by installing the very popular white or almond Euro style doors with continuous oak rail pulls and hidden hinges on the existing cabinets. For example, almond Euro doors placed on existing maple or oak cabinets, almond in the foreground and maple in the background. This is very stylish and looks good with granite kitchen countertops of various colors.
A bright, cheerful and contemporary look for any kitchen could be found in the white kitchen cabinets. Simply remove the door fronts and drawer facings and paint the cabinet boxes, inside and out, white and then do the same for the door facings and the drawer fronts. Shiny white kitchen cabinets with beautiful new brass hinges give the kitchen a whole new look without spending a lot of money.
Just as a dentist uses veneers on teeth, cabinet refacing also uses veneers to give the cabinets a facelift. There is a self-adhesive color or wood grain to match or contrast your kitchen décor. This technique takes a little longer and may cost a little bit more because it includes veneering or laminating the entire cabinets but the results are well worth the effort.
